Ranks & patches
Every expedition adds the kilometres you walked to your total. Twelve levels take you from the trailhead to Farhiker, each with its own embroidered patch, and 33 more patches are sewn on along the way for streaks, rare answers, perfect days and long journeys.
The twelve levels
Your level is the total distance you have walked. Every daily expedition counts, late ones from the last seven days included, and when the final count raises a score, your total rises with it. Unlimited runs count too, at a third of their distance, for your first three runs each day. The first levels come within days; Farhiker takes around eight months of daily play.

Patches and how to earn them
Patches come in families. Most have several tiers, each harder than the last, and the thread gets finer as you go: plain cotton, a coloured edge, silver, gold, then gold with a fringe. Anything “in a day” or “in a row” counts only daily expeditions played on time, not late ones or Unlimited. Elusive and Trailblazer answers are judged by the final count, so an answer that turns out rarer can still earn its patch the day after.

How rare is each patch?
Each patch shows the share of hikers who have it sewn on, out of everyone who has finished at least one daily expedition, counted again once a day. The share takes the same five names as the trail markers on your pins. Once you have finished an expedition, the share for every patch shows on this page.

Kept for good
Your level and patches are worked out from your record of play every time it changes. Your total distance never goes down, and a patch once sewn on stays on, even if the rules are tuned later. The quickest way to your first patch is today’s expedition: finish it and First Steps is yours.
